It has been a very busy week for my little family. Nothing crazy is going on but it seems like a thousand little things have come up. Also, we may have found a great new place. It is a great size for us at a good price. The layout is great and we put in our application. Hopefully they will accept it and we can start thinking about moving.
I have been so consumed with finding a new place to live that I haven’t really given a lot of thought to the whole moving process and what that will entail… Oh, dear!
Back on topic now! An X-base bench or stool can be a great addition to any space. They are not too intrusive and add great visual interest!
My favorite uses for X-base pieces are a pair at the end of a bed such as this:
Used as a vanity stool like this one:
And a pair under a console in an entry or under a sofa table for extra seating like these:
There are a plethora of styles available for X-Base Benches/Stools. Anything from traditional and tuscan to simple and modern.
The X- Base Stool from Wisteria
The Lillie Bench by Susanne Kasler at Hickory Chair
Horchow has this Mirrored X-Bench
Pierre Deux does this one with beautiful nailhead trim

Restoration Hardware’s Toscane Nailhead Bench is great too. I love that the nailheads are more like finishing nails instead of the rounded head.
Ballard Designs makes an X-Bench that can be customized with their fabrics
There is the ever-popular Jonathan Adler X-Bench
And his Double X-Bench
The Worlds Away X Side Stool
And my personal favorite is the Claudette Bench by Jan Showers:
Not to be ignored are other furnishings with the X motif:
The Cleo Bar Cabinet by Atelier at Hickory Chair is a great example.
And I am totally crushing on this X-Side Desk
These are all designer pieces but here are some more affordable options:
Target’s Modern Stool $54.99
