Around Here

So, I have totally been MIA lately and for that, I apologize.

Our Thanksgiving was a really fun day spent with my family and some very close family friends at my parent’s home. It was unseasonably warm here in Houston, but thankfully (pun intended) not too hot. The majority of the day was spent outside with the kids getting tons of energy out and parents relaxing/chit-chatting. Sound relaxing…. it was.

For Christopher, there was zip lining through the trees with Uncle Bubba…

The morning after Thanksgiving, Geoff, Christopher and I hoped on a plane and went to Oklahoma to visit Geoff’s grandfather and other extended family there. As of late, Christopher has been fascinated with planes. Every time he hears a jet engine flying above he HAS to look up and watch it fly past. He enjoyed seeing the planes at the airport, but he really didn’t get the concept of being inside the plane.

He was the picture of good behavior during the flight (counting my blessings) with a small amount of discomfort upon landing. The majority of the next few days were spent with Geoff’s grandfather who turned 92 years old yesterday!

We watched the bedlam game and had a mini bedlam rematch when Christopher got to play with his cousin Hunter the next day. We called that one a tie 😉

It was a wonderful trip and we had a great time, but I am always amazed how great it feels to be home… even after just a few days away.

And now begins the wonderful chaos that is the Christmas season (My FAVORITE time of year). Geoff and I have had Christmas music playing for the last week and a half and I can’t wait to cut down our tree this weekend at the tree farm. It will be so much fun to watch Christopher’s reaction to all of the festivities this year.

I hope to be posting more often in the next few weeks. The Blooming Nine Patch had been relegated to the closet shelf after our move, but should finally be completed before Christmas. (Yes, this is the third deadline that I have made for completing this quilt… Hopefully it will not whiz by like the other two.)

There are several additional projects that I would like to complete for the before Christmas and would love to share them with all of you!
