December – Month in Review

I came to the realization a few days ago that I had not done a single post in the month of December. I was disappointed in myself for two reasons. First, December and the Christmas season is my favorite time of year. I find that I am usually inspired the most around this. Second, I managed to put up lots of decorations this year and did a few small projects as well. It may be a little late, but I still think you will enjoy seeing everything.

The entire past month was just a whirlwind for us! The day after Thanksgiving we went to cut down our Christmas tree. We have not managed to cut down our tree so early in the season before, but it was a welcomed change as Geoff and I are both in love with the Christmas season. Every year we cut down a tree at a local tree farm, Old Time Christmas Tree Farm in Spring, TX. If you are in the Houston area I highly recommend going there for a tree. They offer precut fir, and cut-your-own pine and cypress trees.

Then came the preparation for Geoff’s finals. The next few weeks both flew by and dragged on until his graduation. Although poor Geoff was trapped in our room studying, I was able to get a lot of great Christmas decorating done.

I did have some help from the little elf pictured above.

The top of our entertainment center was adorned with new pine garland and gold berry garland. Christopher picked out this paper mache reindeer and pine cone at the craft store.

I also grabbed the mercury glass candle holder and a few led candles at Homegoods.

After Geoff’s finals, we had a great night out on the town. We went to an elegant dinner and went to the symphony. The next morning, I was able to see this handsome man walk across the stage and receive his degree.

After the graduation, the whirlwind of Christmas began. We were in New Orleans with my family for the holiday and had a wonderful trip.

As the holidays come to a close I am glad to have the rush of the season die back down and settle in to our new routine with our college grad.

I hope your Christmas season was a merry one. I’ll be back soon with new developments around our home and fresh inspiration.
